Pritiko looks back on successful 2010
London racer ready to move up after successful 2010
LONDON, ONTARIO - London's Ontario's Matt Pritiko has just finished his
maiden season at Delaware Speedway in the Late Model Division, having
made the transition from roadracing. The 22 year-old had an impressive
showing by finishing sixth overall and taking the NASCAR Whelen Ontario
Rookie-of-the-Year title. In addition, he finished third overall in the
North American Rookie standings.
"I am satisfied with the way things went," Pritiko said. "We had some
goals for the season at the start of the year, but we got off to such a
good start, we had to revise them."
Pritiko started his 15 race journey this year with some top five
finishes and that gave him some early confidence. "It was all going
well, then in the middle of the year we had some wrecks that dropped us
down the points order," Pritiko said. "The biggest thing was I was able
to learn from the wrecks and get back on track for the rest of the
year."
The year ended exactly where Pritiko wanted it to by him winning on the
final race night of the year. "It couldn't of ended any better," Pritiko
said. "To get my first win was great, but it was also a good reward for
all the support I have gotten this year from the sponsors and my team.
In addition, heading into next year, we now go in knowing what it takes>
to win at this level."
Like all racers at this time of year, Pritiko is already on the hunt for
sponsorship for next year, and with his impressive record in 2010, he
offers great value to any potential sponsor.
"We are already hard at work on planning for next year," Pritiko said.
"We needed to take some time to reflect back on this year, and we have
done that. Now it is full steam ahead for next season."
